Baby Clothes: A Strategy
"And here comes Chloe crawling down the runway in her bright yellow sundress that says 'Grandma's Little Ray of Sunshine!'" Yeah, it's time to talk about baby clothes again, which oddly enough for a guy, I enjoy. Babies dressed up in cute little outfits makes me smile on the inside, but finding and maintaining these cute little fashion statements requires some consideration.
Baby clothing deals can be had in all kinds of places. Online stores that can have them shipped to your home, clearance racks and resale shops will be your best outlets. However you can run across deals on baby clothes nearly anywhere and when you do, take advantage.
Babies grow, and HOW! Growth is really their only job and they do it well. Keeping them clothed can be a challenge, which a lot of the reason for taking advantage of buying as many clothes as you can and spending the least amount of money you are able to on them. Let's face it, clothing bought today will be too small in a few weeks.
You might be tempted to buy the clothes a little larger than needed to help keep them around a little longer. This isn't a bad idea as long as you do so with caution. Buying clothes that are way too big could twist around and hang baby up a bit, binding their arms and legs or even become a safety hazard if your little one rolls over in the bed a lot.
Adjustable over clothes like overalls are a good idea to accommodate growth. When you think about it, you can adjust them as you go and baby never knows. This leaves you not having to buy several pairs of pants and keep your little darling looking a lot like a farmer.
While matching outfits are always nice, having swappable clothing is a real convenience. If your baby spills its bottle or had a "wittle week" you don't have to change an entire outfit, just top or bottom. Considering half the time when all of this is happening, your baby will most likely be sleeping or headed to sleepy land, speed can be of the essence.
Finally, let's talk about laundering your baby's clothing. We all know that you should use baby detergent. The thing is, stick to the same brand. Baby's detergent is designed for sensitive skin, but they are not all exactly the same. If a detergent is working for you avoid changing to another though. Just because baby didn't react to the last one doesn't mean they won't react to the next. Also get in the habit of tumble drying babies clothes to avoid shrinking and possible decal peeling.
Baby clothing is one of the more fun aspects of having a baby. It's your chance to express how you feel about your baby and your opportunity to make fun of them later on as teens and adults, so don't squander it. Seriously though, have fun, be careful and get some clothes on that baby!
